La Puerta de Quetzalcóatl (Quetzalcóatl’s Gate)

A fractal and utopian point of access dedicated to the god Quetzalcóatl, and projected as a contemporary monumental tribute to the ancestral city of Tenochtitlán, commemorating the 500th anniversary of its destruction in 1521.

Inspired by the richness of the Nahuatl culture, the cosmogony of the grandly protective and ceremonial «Quetzal-feathered Serpent» god and the symbolism and majesty of the Ishtar Gate: we present the Quetzalcóatl Gate.

Located near the foundation of the ancient gate to Tenochtitlán as a reminder to current civilization, this is a monument that honors the concept and personality of the Aztec god of life, light, fertility, civilization and knowledge. It memorializes both living and lost pre-Columbian cultures, as a prismatic offering to the lasting memory of what was once conquered from Mexico, at the cost of its material destruction and its legendary perpetuity.
