Not many multidisciplinary artists manage to cross the dividing line between visual expressionism, editorial fashion and the discipline of law.

Diego Lacayo-Jaén's experience in the creative industry has given him the knowledge to treat body, textual and photographic style with the same degree of imagination and exploration.

His distinctive vision has earned him a reputation as a creative detailer in the industry. Working directly with the Mexican designer Carla Fernández gave him the tools to make creative decisions and support his choices.

He is at once decisive and spontaneous, and as a result, a group of renowned creatives, curators, and international festivals have sought his ability to create captivating installations, images, and copywriting.

Born and based in Panama City, Panama, his aesthetic is filled with a reverence for his cultural identity. His most recent work is a joyful testimonial to his Latin American roots.

Like a painting, his work creates tension and contrast and is at the same time formal, but invites relaxation. The effect is a balance between a certain kind of simplicity and a deep sense of objectivity. Whether in a text, an editorial image or a piece of action art, at every level of Diego Lacayo-Jaén's work there is a tremendously astute perspective.

His performance work perceives and examines pop culture through live installations, in which the body serves as a medium to explore the inconsistency of the limits of the mind.

His career began in the field of theater and public intervention until studying the expressiveness of performance art, translating the global legacy of the corporal installation into the complex Latin American experience.

His work is influenced by the consequences of the morbid cult of celebrity, the addiction to collective recognition and media observation, applying the critical thinking of the performance movement with perspectives derived from the Panamanian imagination.

"Diego Lacayo Jaén's performative activity can be defined as dramatic, extreme and binding. His actions establish poetic scenes, where the silent hieraticism of the artist stands out in front of audiences with whom he relates through gestures close to the rite and with the incorporation of evocative audios with texts of his own production.

In many cases, the action is reflected in fragmented images that give us back the intimate character of the ceremonial, the sequences of the gestures and, finally, the stamp of the flayed skin of the artist in his communicative effort."
